Hi,
So the challenge…As a drunken bet between my mum and I, I bet her that I could do a half marathon in less than 1hr 30mins. This will be my first half marathon and indeed my first race. Although I may do one as training before it. If you want to abuse, just comment or wonderfully support leave a comment. This will be my blog of training.
The date of the event is 27th March 2011.
The challenge has been lurking behind me for a few weeks now. I have been going to the gym quite a lot as I play rugby but this is something completely different.
How you guys get up and train on mornings like these is way beyond “normal.” It was literally freezing. Jack and his frost had done a great job of icing the paths and surrounding countryside. So it was without great gusto that I left the house this morning for a “cheeky” 2.5 miles before work.
The route takes in a pretty major hill coupled with a couple of smaller mounds. Normally it’s quite nice to clear my head before the day, this morning was different.
The wind attacked, the legs took each step begrudgingly and my head was anything other than clear with thoughts of the warm bed I had just left. Even the new albums I had stuffed onto my I-pod just weren’t helping.
So how do you do it…On mornings like this one or any run, what helps you get around?
131 days to go.
