Thank You

Thank you to everyone who made the festival this year, we hope you all had a great time and experience.

A special thanks has to go out to the sponsors, McCain and Lucozade for all their hard work and for supporting the event.

Thanks again to the St Johns ambulance team for another great job even if the only casualties had nothing to do with the event!!

Results for the 10k can be seen at www.chipresults.co.uk and the team results you can see by clicking the results page on our site.

Welcome along

To give you that extra little boost on the day people go to extraordinary lengths.

At this years festival there is no need to go searching high and low, Lucozade are coming along to hand you some of their products plus give you some nutritional advice.

We are delighted to welcome them along and look forward to the helpful advice they will be able to provide to runners.

If you haven’t already done so book your place at this years festival here and enjoy a great weekend away!

It's a pleasure to welcome along Lucozade at this years festival

Welcome on Board

We would formally like to welcome on board McCain as a sponsor of the Love Life Love Running festival.

McCain, Principal Partner of UK Athletics. We are delighted to have them along.

With McCain comes their roadshow…This is an excellent way to get everyone involved in sports. From Running to jumping, sprinting to throwing this is a great way to get into sport.

For a sneaky look into what you can expect on the day have a look at:

What’s the world coming to?

“I remember when that was a shilling” or “back in my day” is something everyone is hearing more of these days.

Petrol prices are a prime example of a price affecting the success of an event. Runners now have to take into consideration not only the entry fee of the race but the price of getting there, which quite often can be more expensive than the actual race itself.

So how have we tried to combat this: We have not quite got to the stage of putting on free transport, instead we offer free camping for the whole weekend. This in effect gives you a weekend away for the price of your entry. Compare that to what you would normally pay for a weekend away and you have a pretty good deal..We don’t scrimp on the amenities either, we have hot showers throughout, along with toilets (that are nice and actually work without the acrid smell that leaves you unable to taste for the next 30 minutes!)

We strive to deliver the excellence you can expect from a weekend away, your family and your friends are welcome – So why not give it a go, come and spend the weekend doing something you love, with the people you love.

Burton 10K & Family Fun Run

We have an addition to the Love Life Love Running family. The Burton 10k and family 5. Much like the festival this is going to be a family orientated fun day of running.

The 10k promises to be a fast course with a great PB potential whilst the 5k is an easy route offering the delights of Burton. We have a pasta party the night before for anyone who wants to eat well and socialise with friends before the race.

Website should be fully up and functional by the end of the week. www.runburton.co.uk

Great year….Now how do we top it?

As one chapter ends and a new one is begun it’s time for a little reflection. Here at LLLR we want our race to be your favourite year in year out.

For us to achieve this we need your help. What makes a race your favourite? Obviously conditions are always important but that’s the one thing we have no control over. What we do have control over is every other little detail that takes the race from good to great.
So here we are in your hands, what makes that race perfect for you?
Happy Christmas and have a great new year.

Jingle Jangles.

Next week is the Dubai 7′s. Our team ‘Hollywood’ won the International social tournament last year and are defending our title again next week. This has been a fitness nightmare.

As all you runners know the right training is key and I think I have confused my body somewhat.  Sprint training and weights for the rugby coupled with long runs and hills for the half marathon.

I think my legs are asking on a daily basis- “what would you like me to be today…A sprinter or a long distance runner?”

Well at least the confusion will be over as of a week today. Then the long distance can commence.

As a side note, I was at training where we undertook an exercise called Jingle Jangles. Oh my day’s…40 m flat out sprint 5 times…. there and back is counted as 1. By the 4th lap my vision had actually got blurry and by the 5th I was nearly dead…Dead I tell you after 5 laps…I thought I was doing okay…This is worrying.

Try it…Let me know how you get on. Please don’t die though…That would be rubbish.

A New Challenge.

Hi,

So the challenge…As a drunken bet between my mum and I, I bet her that I could do a half marathon in less than 1hr 30mins. This will be my first half marathon and indeed my first race. Although I may do one as training before it. If you want to abuse, just comment or wonderfully support leave a comment. This will be my blog of training.

The date of the event is 27th March 2011.

The challenge has been lurking behind me for a few weeks now. I have been going to the gym quite a lot as I play rugby but this is something completely different.

How you guys get up and train on mornings like these is way beyond “normal.” It was literally freezing.  Jack and his frost had done a great job of icing the paths and surrounding countryside.  So it was without great gusto that I left the house this morning for a “cheeky” 2.5 miles before work.

The route takes in a pretty major hill coupled with a couple of smaller mounds. Normally it’s quite nice to clear my head before the day, this morning was different.

The wind attacked, the legs took each step begrudgingly and my head was anything other than clear with thoughts of the warm bed I had just left. Even the new albums I had stuffed onto my I-pod just weren’t helping.

So how do you do it…On mornings like this one or any run, what helps you get around?

131 days to go.
